I have a question of my own for this week's Tuesday Tell All. And it's one I was just thinking about at random earlier today and I thought it would really fun to know what other's answers are to this one, so COMMENT your heart out!I have been thinking lately of gifts. About what I feel I am naturally good at, what I have worked to become good at and what I have never been and probably never will be good at. People sometimes ask me (usually in a situation where craftiness is being discussed) if there's anything I can't do? Yeah, plenty.
I can't crochet, make jell-o, play any one instrument with true proficiency, swim (I still have to hold my nose underwater), draw lifelike human forms, speak any foreign languages...and the list could go on and on. But there are also things I am naturally good at.
Question: What compliment (not about physical beauty) have you received most from others during your life?
Answer: I am good at giving advice. Who's to say if this is the product of being a logical thinker, having good problem solving skills or a vast array of life experiences, but it's one compliment I get a lot. And I feel it's true. I am really good at giving solid, level-headed advice.
What's YOUR most frequently received compliment?
(excluding physical)

I have been told that I am good at being calm in chaotic situations. In fact the more crazy the situation the better I handle it. I never thought much about it but I think it is because when I was in Kenya one summer, a school teacher told me to always remember Hakuna Matata. That day I resolved to just take a deep breath and let it go, take it step by step. It is such a random gift, but has deeply impacted my career and everyday life. I am very grateful for it.
Probably sewing or my upbeat personality
My biggest compliment has been from people telling me what wonderful people my children are. To me that is the greatest compliment of all!
Its a compliment/ question: How'd you think of that?
I just love getting asked that. I'm told that I am creative.
I am a middle school Drama teacher...our class current project is called "Teach your Talent". The kids have put together 2 minute presentations sharing something they are good at. It has been such a fun process. It is so good for the kids to have to figure out something they are good at...
I have been told that I have a way of making the people around me feel very comfortable. Like we have known each other for years and they just want to be around me so they can feel good/happy.
People tell me that I'm funny. But I only feel that I am semi-funny in small groups of people I know, or with my family.
People tell me I'm funny but this puts a lot of pressure on me when I'm not feeling funny. Funny has to be spontaneous.
probably that i'm funny.
That I'm funny. And for some odd reason, that's very important to me. Not to be the center of attention or anything, but making people laugh makes me feel good. So when I'm told that someone thinks I'm funny, it's truly a compliment to me.
People call me Martha-as in Martha Stewart, which they mean as a compliment, but which actually bugs the hell out of me.
I mean is Martha the only person on earth allowed to be creative?
I'll shut up now.
People are usually amazed at how well I can remember things from the past. I couldn't tell you what I was doing ten minutes ago, but I remember that girl's name from ten years ago who lived down the street for two months before moving.
I also get complimented on how well behaved my young children are. I think that has to do mostly with their personalities, but I will take credit for encouraging the good behavior they exhibit naturally.
It would have to be that I'm strong for Josh being gone so much and me dealing with all that that implies.
I wish I had the creative compliment a bit more tho. Oh well. I'm working on that one. ;)
Mostly that I'm honest. I get a lot of compliments about crafts and artwork that I do but I take the honesty one more to heart.
I have always gotten compliments on my artistic abilities( I went to Art School on a scholarship). I am also known for my craftiness too. My mil ( the YW pres. in our ward, uses this often LOL). I am told too, that I can make people feel at ease and welcome, something I picked up from my grandmother.
Probably that I'm so creative. This is mostly told to me by non-creative people.
