Washington DC vs. Mother Nature

...Mother Nature won!

We arrived in Washington D.C. on Friday night and had a great pizza dinner with Bryan and Chelsey. Their house is beautiful and the were wonderful hosts. The girls were very excited for this trip. In fact, on the way there the girls were fighting in the backseat of our van over who "won" their most recent game of Name That Tune. Finally Ella said, "We ALL win because we're going to Chelsey's!" We made big plans for Saturday. Maybe the DC Zoo, a drive by the White House....we were going to live it up!

And that's when Mother Nature screamed BOOYAH!!!

Matt and I awoke on Saturday to a very brisk morning and went to the Washington D.C. LDS Temple. Within moments of walking in the doors I was certain this would become my new favorite Temple. It was breathtakingly beautiful, serene and majestic. Matt and I performed saving ordinance for those who are deceased by proxy (as is performed in all LDS Temples) and it was, as always, a glorious, rewarding and peace-giving experience.

We were inside for around 1.5 hours and when we came out the front doors it was really SNOWING! And it snowed and snowed and snowed some more. Our usually 25 minute drive back to Bryan and Chelsey's house became a 2 hour drive amidst snow plows, accidents and police cars.

We were greeted by these two adorable girls waving to us from the front windows. The forecast predicted continuous snowing until 4:00 AM so we decided to head back early. But not before we grabbed some lunch at 5 Guys Burgers and Fries with our good friends.

After lunch we had quick naps for the girls, packed up and sad a sad Goodbye to Bryna and Chelsey with a promise to come back soon for a longer visit....minus the freak snow storm.

WE STILL HAD A GREAT TIME VISITING OUR FRIENDS!
And in the end...."We ALL won because we went to Bryan and Chelsey's House!"

Too bad that you didn't get to stay longer. The spring is a gorgeous time to go to DC too tho because of all the cherry blossoms in bloom... and hopefully with no freak snow storms :)

I love the DC Temple. And too bad you couldn't stay longer with Bryan and Chelsey. But you're not that far away, you can easily go again
