Sickness & Snow

Well, it's happening again. Another fierce winter snow storm...this time it's categorized as an actual Blizzard. We hunkered down, canceled my Saturday afternoon Mixed Craft Club, stocked up on essentials and updated our Netflix queue.

Then today, we sat in the house and watched the snow fall.
and fall.
and fall.

Last night Evangeline refused dinner, stating in a small, mouse-like voice that her tummy hurted. And around 6:35 the vomiting began.
And she barfed.
and barfed.
and barfed.

This was the only pictured I managed to snap today in between changed blankets, giving baths, song singing, head petting and feeding her fluids, toast and applesauce...which was always inevitably thrown up within 30 minutes.  Due to eventual lack of clean sheets and blankets, she finally ended up in our big bed where I took her this bowl with dry toast.

Tomorrow we head to the laudromat to have our king sized comforter cleaned.
I should have known better.

Oh sister, I'm so sorry. Is she feeling better today? My kids have had this sickness so much in the past year or so that I feel like I've become a pro. Towels line the couch or their beds, wherever they're going to lay, because towels are so much easier to wash than bedding. A bowl is VERY close at hand (though I will admit my kids couldn't do the bowl on their own 'til about 3 1/2). They can have a waterbottle and that's it, no food (even when they're bawling about how hungry they are. It feels so mean but it has to be done) for 12 hours from the first throw-up, and popsicles, popsicles, popsicles. Or maybe in your case, snow? I really hope she feels better very soon (and the rest of you escape the sickness).

i'm sorry to hear eva's sick. i hate when my kids are throwing up. we had that about 2 weeks ago. have you ever tried giving a teaspoon of the peach or pear syrup that comes in canned fruit? our pediatrician told us that and it seems to settle stomachs....

Oh no. I hope that she feels better soon and that no one else gets it too. Crazy amount of snow, huh?

Note: Probably best to stop feeding barfing child unless they are really hungry.
