Grammys 2010 Fashion Wrap Up

I seriously considered not doing these anymore after the Golden Globes post when I was assaulted by a hoard of angry and insulting comments and emails from The League of Unhappy Women. But Mary let me know it is needed....so I'll do it. If you disagree with me...please do so....respectfully.

BEST DRESSED

Taylor Swift - Some critics panned this dress, but I really liked it. It's simple cut makes it able to withstand that much glitter and the square notch neckline adds just a touch of interest. The jewels, make-up and hair are winning.

Pink - Pink has worn some pretty nauseating outfits before, but this is a perfect blend of glamor and rock edginess. I love the gradient color and the little belt. And her hair and make-up produce an elegant look with a rock-star twist.

Lea Michele - I did not like her Golden Globes gown, but she rocked it out at the SAG awards and now this. THIS is how a young, fresh, up and comer should dress at the Grammys. She looks fantastic!

ALMOST

Beyonce - This girl always gets so close, but never gets the cigar. She has amazing curves and just never seems to know how to dress them properly. The additional dimensional fabric adds bulk to her frame and the geometric shapes confuse the eye and compete with the earrings. Oh man, don't even get me started on the earrings.

Carrie Underwood - The dress color is very nice, as is the hair and make-up, but the dress itself was a total miss for me. If you are going to have a strappy, off-set look, those straps must fit flawlessly and Carrie's didn't. There was a constantly shifting gap on those upper straps that was distracting. Also, her ta-ta's look uneven...never a good look.

Jennifer Hudson - I love J-Hud, but this dress is just plain wrong for her. First, it is wrong for her particular body type. The length of the jacket makes her bottom half disproportionate to her top half. The skirt was constantly riding up. Also, it's a bit ho-hum for such a super-star as Jennifer has become.

WORST DRESSED

Katie Perry - Wouldn't you kill for her body? I would, but this dress is doing it no favors. Her ta-ta's look a bit depressed. The sequins and nude and glitter....let's get to the obvious...it's just a tacky dress. Period.

Ciara - Ick. It's not edgy...it's just crazy.

Britney Spears - Seems like she got a hold of Ciara's stylist...after 4 more beers. I mean, where do I even start? She worked so hard to get her slammin' body back. Her comeback has been unprecedented. But this look is a disaster!

So there's my assessment.....what do YOU think?

I didn't get to see much of it, but from the photos you have...you're right on with the assessment.
What did you think of Pink's outfit when she was singing upside down in the air?

I like the idea of taylor's dress, but there are some weird bumps happening in the rib area. And jen hud looks like she going to the office in the 80's idea of futuristic fashion.

I like Taylor Swift's dress a lot. And Britney? YOWza. Yowza. That's all. Lea Michele--no idea who she is, but her dress reminds me of a project runway win, but I can't remember if it was this season or Season 2, since I just finished it.

i loved lea's dress both her and at the golden globes...I think she is pretty good at looking trendy and timeless...much better than toddler and grandmother at the same time right?!? ;)

The worst ones were definitely bad, I would like to see how the gaga looked though (she deserves her own category)

thanks!

I am so glad you did this. Truly! I agree with most of your assessments. Britney and Ciara seriously I don't know how you walk out the door thinking you look okay in that, Truly a talent/miracle.

I totally agree with Carrie Underwood, but fashion critics gave her such rave reviews. Thank you for illustrating the problems with the number. And I sort of am diggin Beyonce's gown, but also hate the earrings which once again were loved by the fc's.

Pink surprised and impressed me. How would I live without red carpet reviews.

I can't believe all the terrible things you wrote. You were WAY off base in these comments.

...Just Kidding! I totally agree with you. I just had to write the above stuff to mess with you and because I would never do that for realsies-had to see what it would be like to be a nasty troll. It's difficult!

I love Lea Michele's dress - I wish I could wear something like that-so youthful!

So, I decided to comment on Taylor Swift's dress. To me, that dress fits about like a glittery potato sack. There is absolutely no shape to it and the off the shoulder neck line just takes away any hope of a sleek line. Anyway, I'm glad you are back in the world of red carpet fashion critique!
