I swear I would walk across hot coals,
go through natural childbirth again,
and stop sinning entirely...
if I could just avoid this parenting step all together.
And Evangeline has been extra tough.
Not common for a second child.
We bought the books, borrowed the Elmo potty video, picked out cute panties...all to no avail. Until today.
Out of nowhere she informs me that the potties are coming. I grab the "Princess Potty" and bring it upstairs to her. She sits down and promptly uses it perfectly.
Well, we hoot, we holler, we sing the official Ahern Potty Song, we dance, we give treats and then call everyone she knows to tell them the news. Yes, we're WAY into positive reinforcement.

I am hoping this is the beginning of a relatively smooth transition to ditching the diapers.
Wish us luck!

ooooh! i had never thought of calling gmas and gpas to let the little ones tell the good news...hmmmm....
I hear ya though...I'm dreading the potty training thing with this next one, in the coming months. Tanner took TWO YEARS. and while Taylor is showing interest, I think i'll let him step on the boat before I rock it. :)
I know your pain... whilst my first child was some kind of freaky potty training wunderkind and instantly got it sorted at two, my littlest is simply not interested... She is an expert at sitting on the pottty and doing nothing - but immediatley filling her pants the minute she gets off!
Give me strength!
Good Luck! and Congratulations!
CONGRATS... Going through the same thing Figs is... My child is an expert at sitting and the minute he gets off he soaks himself!! I hope one day he just figures it out!!
I totally love the Ahern Potty Song!!! We used all the time....in our nine months of potty training Isabel. Ouch. It does suck. Best of luck!!
Hi-larious. Now I'm glad I was so enthusiastic when she told me.
Hoping it continues to work for you, praying for us as we tackle it with our two year old. She really needs to potty train for our sakes, we have another on the way in October! Best of luck!
I know potty training is not glamorous...but that photo is divine!
