a few questions...

answers to comments on today's post and emails.

1. Will you keep scrapping for yourself? Kind of. I think in this first flush of letting go I need to take a step back and stop scrapping entirely. Maybe if only for a week. I want to just sit and soak in the life changes that will come of this decision for a moment. If/when I do start scrapping for me again it will be vastly different.

First, it will most likely be heavily digital. I have made a few mini books using Paislee Press digital products and had them professionally printed and bound in hardback books by Shutterfly. They have emerged as my favorite and actually get looked through often and lovingly. I know most scrappers turn up their noses at digital, but it is easier, less expensive, less messy and WAY less time and space consuming.

Second, I will be scrapping a bit with paper with pre-made albums, like the brilliant Stacy Julian demonstrates here. In both digital and pre-made album scrapping I imagine a much more streamlined approach where photo + words are the focus, not products and techniques.

2. What will you do with all of your supplies? Huge garage sale. Know a scrapper around Lancaster, PA? Tell her to start saving her pocket money. I plan on keeping my Cricut, my paper trimmer, possibly my bind it all and a small box of cardstock and patterned paper. Everything else is going. I probably have 10 moving boxes filled with current paper lines, idea books and stamps. It's all going.

3. Will we ever see scrapping on your blog again? Yes, most likely I will share the above mentioned digital mini books as well as any other small paper albums I make.

4. What about all of the Design Teams you are on? I have stepped down and everyone has been incredibly understanding and supportive. My number 1 concern about this decision was not fulfilling my commitments because I feel very strongly about honoring my word. I gave each company an option to have me finish my term. I am also handing over The Scrap Review to the amazingly capable Ashley Harris, who has been my Senior Editor and will not only continue with the vision of the site, but I am positive it she will make it 10 times better than I ever did.

5. Will you still be hosting PROJECT PROJECT? Yes. I will still post the challenges and I will still post the inspired entries. I may play along digitally as well.

It is the emilieness of your blog that keeps me looking forward to reading it everyday. Your love for family, your humor, and your out front approach to life is refreshing and addicting. Thanks for sharing your life. Enjoy what you do! And I know you will. :-)

I know you don't "know" me and I don't "know" you but sad just the same. I LOVE your work and will miss it, but I hope this helps you to find your story again. I hope you can find your way back when it feels right. :)

And as a matter of fact, I AM near Lancanster, PA so let me know when that sale is.

as a digi gal I am so excited to see that your personal scrapbooking leans more to digi! I LOVE paislee press as well. glad to know we will still see your inspiring designs on this blog - probably even more inspired because you will be doing it just for you! Happy Day!

You have so many creative talents and gifts...you have blessed us all with your inspirations that go way beyond the scrapbook pages. I truly stop by each day for your words: sometimes fuuny or heartfelt. What a powerful choice you have made, in the creative sense. I have contemplated the same decision (although i am no where near your level). I have found that my blog feeds me creatively enough most days. Best of luck and I'm not going anywhere. See you tomorrow.

Good for you. I have had mixed feelings about my own scrapping. Your plunge is inspiring. Good luck!

Good luck to you. I must say, I'm a little jealous. I would love to be able to quit my job just to feed my creativity. That's not an option for a single mom. I know that you know you are very lucky and blessed to be able to do so.

I take scrapbooking hiatuses from time to time. I don't think you need to say you're stopping forever, maybe just for now. But whatever works for you. Is Philadelphia near where you live? If it is I'm sending my aunt to go to your garage sale! Keep me posted on that! Hope you are happy in whatever you decide to do. :) Katie.

Have you thought about selling your stuff on ebay? That way, those of us not close to Lancaster PA have an opportunity at your stash. ;)

I'll miss your scrap work.. but I'll still come on here to read your blog.

How about letting those of us not in PA buy some of your stuff?
Is there any way you'll consider selling some of it online?

All the best while figuring out your changing life.

Also - it's all about the digi. (Says the lady who's been all digi for 2+ years - and yet of late really wants to do some more paper! Life, it is mysterious.)

ah, this is such a bummer, but i completely understand where you are coming from. and, if it's where you're going to feel your happiness, then go for it! i've loved your blog just for the mix of everything you write about: recipes, life, whatever. you already have a good thing going. all the best to you! =)
p.s. i, too, am near lancaster - i'll drive out for a good sale anywhere, anytime. =P
enjoy your new adventure!!!

Big decision! Seems like alot of people are doing the same thing.

I only do paper, sure wish I lived near you when you start selling your scrapping stuff!

I want to wish you good luck in whatever you do next!

Welcome to the dark side! LOL! Us digi-gals are often the black sheep of the scrap world, but if the point is really to tell your story, any technology that lets you do that faster, easier and cheaper must be given its due. I know you will find a whole new quality of life without being bound to the responsibilities of design teams, and I, for one, am not worried about "missing your scrapping". I have a feeling we'll be seeing more than ever...

Thanks for all the inspiration. Your style is one of the few I find my eye drawn to and the last couple years I seemed to see your work everywhere. I say Bravo whenever a person puts her family first and makes choices that fit her (rather than others' expectations, etc.).

I hadn't scrapped since my 3rd was born last March...until this weekend at a ScrapPink event---where I lifted your "Double Trouble" layout. I wish you the best and will still be seeking inspiration from all your other talents!
