Yesterday morning we opened our December 1st presents from Matt's parents, Grandma and Grandpa Ahern. This is their family's tradition and I love it.
The family got a very cool scripture Advent calendar, but the huge star of the show was Ella and Eva's presents. Matching aprons and chef's hats and mini cooking supplies to bake Christmas goodies with. Ella was so excited and Evangeline said "Oh WOW!" when we opened the wrapping paper.

Matt and I went on a date last night and went to dinner and to see Four Christmases. My amazing friend, Dana, and her husband watched the kids so we could have our first date night in probably 6 months. The movie was hilariously funny. Not too deep or meaningful...just really funny.
So a lot of people already know we don't "do the Santa thing". We're not anti-Santa, we just never mention the guy. But this year, Ella has latched unto him big time. It must be television because she talks about him often and about his coming to our house for Christmas. So we went to the Mall yesterday to buy a few long sleeved shirts for my Christmas presents. And there he was...a glorious and very genuine Santa. Ella was elated! She climbed right up on his knee and told him she wanted "lots of treats" for Christmas.
